for a tour of the Cotswolds with its umpteen old and historic
market towns, villages and curiosities of every kind. From Uplands
House you can explore the Stratford
of Shakespeare and Anne
Hathaway, go to the theatre and be back for a late dinner.
You can visit Oxford with its many medieval colleges, and Woodstock
and Blenheim Palace,

Warwick Castle,
Charlecote Park, the splendid
Tudor mansion, home of the Lucy Family since 1247, with a garden
landscaped by Capability Brown in 1760,
Broughton
Castle, modernised in 1554, and
reflected in a beautiful lake, the ancestral home of the Saye
and Sele family, the Robert Adam 1760’s house at
Compton Verney, with its wonderful
art gallery and constantly changing exhibitions, the Jacobean
Chastleton House, and the 18th century
Farnborough Hall, the Tudor Sulgrave
Manor, George Washington’s ancestral home, and the 15th
century Sudeley Castle.
The gardens
of Sezincote,
Bourton House,
Kiftsgate,
and
Hidcote are all within easy reach
and are pleasant drives through glorious countryside.
You could wander
around the antique shops of Moreton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold,
the Slaughters, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton and Broadway.
Well worth a visit
is Whichford Pottery,
the Arboretum at Batsford
Park and the wildlife sanctuary of Snowshill
Manor. The Rollright
Stones, a megalithic hilltop circle, and the famous model
village at Bourton-on-the-Water,
are short drives away, as is the National
Exhibition Centre, and the Royal
Show Ground at Stoneleigh Park.

can walk to
Upton House, a stately home with
fabulous collections of furniture, painting and porcelain. The
National Herb Centre is close
by, as is
Edgehill, site of the first battle
of the English Civil War.
For those who like
horse racing there are courses at Warwick,
Stratford and
Cheltenham, and for
motor racing Silverstone
is nearby.
For the energetic,
tennis, and
riding are available nearby.
We have a special relationship
with Tadmarton Golf Club. The course occupies a delightful location
with lovely views `over the rolling Cotswold hills and country
side to Broughton Castle and Church (See picture below). Staff
are friendly and helpful, and golfers enjoy coming here. Guests
